Youth Religious Emblem

Youth Religious Emblem

"A Scout is reverent. A Scout is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties. He respects the beliefs of others." -the 12th and final point of the Scout Law

"Train a boy in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not swerve from it." -Proverbs 22:6

The religious emblems programs are programs created by the various religious groups to encourage youth to grow stronger in their faith. The religious groups-not the Boy Scouts of America-have created the religious emblems programs themselves.

The Boy Scouts of America has approved of these programs and allows the recognition to be worn on the official uniform, but each religious organization develops and administers its own program.

Most of the awards are medals consisting of bar pins, ribbons, and pendants. They are worn on the uniform above the left pocket on formal occasions. In addition, the youth religious emblem square knot recognition may be worn on the uniform over the left pocket.

Visit the Programs of Religious Activities with Youth (P.R.A.Y.) website for more information about all of the Scouting religious emblems programs. Contact your unit advancement chair or religious emblems coordinator if you are interested in pursuing a youth religious emblem, or require additional help getting started.
