Summer is upon us, we have no organizied district activities outside of the July Eagle Scout review board, but are busily planning the details of the upcoming years activities starting in August. Remember the district calendar for next year is available on the website to help your unit plan for the upcoming year. Or if you have subscribed to it, it should be in your device already. Check the website, newsletters and flashes for the latest information.

Joint Roundtables for 2013-2014

Cub and Boy Scout Roundtables will meet at the LDS Stake Center Carrollton.  A joint opening will start at 7:30 on the second Thursday of each month.  After announcements the group will break into Cub and Scout Roundtables.

Mark your calendars for the up coming Scout year.  The first gathering will be August 8th.  Come early and see old friends and make new ones.

Cub Scout Roundtable is on Vacation for July

There will be no Cub Scout roundtable held in July.  We will take the month off from our scheduled programming because a lot of the staff and our participants are vacationing, camping and enjoying summer with the kids.  Enjoy the time with your family. 



Ahoy Mateys !: Calling all Tigers, Wolves, Bears and WEBELOS to attend North Star CUBE 2013 (CUBE Ahoy!) September 28th and 29th, 2013, Farmers Branch Historical Park. Enjoy crafts, games, cooking, BB shooting and archery.  Activities will begin at the start of each session and will be conducted as a “round robin”.  There will be three sessions for CUBE to allow you to schedule the time most convenient for you and your Cub Scout.  Check out the CUBE page on the district website for details on cost, to download the paper registration form, or for the online links to register and pay for your selected session.

Boy Scout Roundtable

North Star District is in need of FOUR Boy Scout roundtable assistant commissioners.  Scouting has changed the roundtable staff structure.  When you volunteer to be a member of the Boy Scout roundtable staff you will be able to earn the Scouter's Key and the Commissioner's Arrowhead Award.  You will help with the planning and execution of the monthly meetings.  Two planning meeting will be held annually.  If you missed the June Roundtable Howard Gurnas was introduced as the new Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner.  Please contact Bill Lasko with your interest and questions.  

Cooking Competition at August Joint Roundtable

Cooking Competition at the Joint Cub Scout & Boy Scout roundtable in August

Cub Scout and Boy Scout roundtables will have a combined meeting in August for our Annual Cooking Contest.  Join your roundtable staffs on Thursday night, August 8 at the LDS Stake Center on the corner of Highway 121 By-Pass and Huffines Blvd.  We will begin at 7:30, but come early for gathering and fellowship.

Get your chef's hat ready to cook up your best entry for the cooking contest.  Start thinking about what camping or hiking recipe you will bring that night to show off your yummiest creation!  It can be a dessert, chili, backpacking meal, or a one pot meal.  Everyone attending will get to sample the dishes prepared and vote for your favorites.  Prizes will be awarded for the winning recipes for the evening! 

***Please, everyone bring a dish to participate in the contest.  The more entries we have, the more food there will be for tasting.  There will be some champions from the past year that will be there to defend their winning titles!

Just a reminder that roundtable is adult training meeting, so please make other arrangements for your children.

Come and join in the fun with your roundtable staffs and fellow leaders.  Spread the word and bring a friend or two!

You won’t want to miss the good food!  Good luck to everyone!

School Night for Scouting

Howdy all, it's not too early to start thinking School Night For Scouting! Please make sure your contact information is current, and it you have SNFS coordinator please make sure we know! And take a look at the website and make sure your troop or pack information is correct! And have a wonderful summer!

Popcorn Sales

We know it's only the middle of  summer and the popcorn sale seems far, far away.  But a successful popcorn sale takes planning and preparation. If your unit hasn't already committed to selling popcorn you can sign up here. This you will get on the councils popcorn distribution list and be assured of the latest information from them.

Eagle Scout Pictures

North District Eagle Scout Pictures have returned to the website (or at least a link to them). Pictures from 2010-2012 have been linked or loaded to the new Eagle Scout photo sharing sites.

District Top Trainer Leader Status

Currently we are at 50%. click on Unit Trainingunder the Training section then select your unit type (PackTroopTeam or Crew) to see if your unit's Top Leader is trained or not.  If they are not, you will also see what training they need to take to become trained.

Remember, to be a "Trained Leader", an adult volunteer needs to have successfully completed all the training as proscribed by National. If you are not sure that you are a Trained Top Unit Leader, a list of the required training can be found at here
