2014

Dear Scouter,

This month is the all important Program Preview on our normal joint roundtable night. For more information check out the article below on the Program Preview.

Regards, North Star District

Program Preview

Program Preview is not just for Scoutmasters and Cubmasters. It's for every leader in a pack, troop, crew or other type of unit, and the parents of the youth in the units. Come hear what the district and council have to offer in support of your units activities, structure and delivery content. In order to deliver a fantastic program to the youth, the unit needs to have content and program ideas for campouts, outings, and meetings (both at the unit level and at the den or smaller sub unit level). This is the meeting to get that and more. Refreshments will be served!

Boy Scout Roundtable

Due to the Program Preview, Boy Scout roundtable will be a short open panel discussion following the preview. Come meet the roundtable commissioner and assistant commissioners and other Boy Scout leaders and parents in the district. The program gets better for the youth when people share their ideas; what works and what doesn't work so that others can avoid those issues.

CPR and First Aid Training For Cub Camp

To meet the BSA National Camp Standards that "At least 50 percent of staff must be currently certified in American Red Cross CPR/AED or approved equivalent", Cub Camp CPR Training  will be on May 20th from 7 pm 9 pm at Nor'kirk Presbyterian Carrollton. For the standard "At least 50 percent of staff must be currently certified in American Red Cross Standard First Aid or approved equivalent",  Cub Camp First Aid Training  will be on May 27th from 7 pm 9 pm at Nor'kirk Presbyterian Carrollton.

Face-to-Face YPT

Since it is time for everyone who took Face-to-Face Youth Protection Training two years ago, to take it again ... we will be offering several chances to do that in May.

Sunday May 18th, 12:00 Noon, Ismaili Center - Social Hall or Saturday, May 24th, 10:00AM, Aldersgate UMC

Remember, anyone attending Cub Scout Day/Twilight Camp, Webelos Resident Camp, Boy Scout Resident Camp, NYLT or Winter Camp in the state of Texas has to take Face-to-Face Youth Protection Training.

The good news is it will also count towards your Youth Protection certification for BSA Membership and Rechartering.

Remember, to be a "Trained Leader", an adult volunteer needs to have successfully completed all the training as proscribed by National. If you are not sure that you are a Trained Top Unit Leader, a list of the required training can be found at here
